Check out these designs recently revealed for a 24-story residential tower by the Office for Metropolitan Architecture. This unique building is set to be completed in New York City by 2010.

The windows on the upper floors get increasingly longer meaning some high ceiling luxury living. On the topside of the building, there are many balconies while the underside of the staircase serves as see-through glass floor views of the street below. There's no way I'm living in a suburb while I'm young, when I could be living in something like this. That Go!

I love this video! How funny is E-40 shaking his dreads?? This song definitely grew on me. At first I wasn't used to hearing E-40's flow on a non-hyphy Konvict beat, but then I realized that every time this song came on when I was out and about, everyone starts going nuts... maybe that's just because I live in the Bay. I think the world needs this kind of rap. This music is nothing but good vibes and dancing... definitely unique... it's no T.I., Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Lil-Wayne etc. I would call that music rap that you can dance to, but only if you're dancing like a gangsta. I understand Hyphy is dead, but E-40 music is still something you can dance to regardless of how silly you look or how little dance skill you have.

HOTEL KING, Barry Sternlicht is best known for being the CEO of Starwood Hotels and creating the W Hotels line. Sternlicht earned his MBA from Harvard and started Starwood Capital in 1992 after several years of hard work and $52 million in investor capital. Thanks to unique tax structure and debt finance, Sternlicht was able to buy companies like Westin and Sheraton for $15 billion. Sternlicht started his own hotel project to build an upscale hotel with bigger beds, better pillows, better TVs, and a distinguishable modern style... and all of it was to be built for the same cost it took to build rooms at the Westin.

The W has since attracted the most talented architects and designers around the world and has become the prime destination for the young trendy business person and socialite.

In 2005, Sternlicht left Starwood Hotels and is now starting all over again with his own firm, Starwood Capital (no affiliation to Starwood Hotels). Sternlicht has been working on three new projects aimed at the high-end consumer: an ultra exclusive line called "Crillon", a casual luxury residence and resort line called "Baccarat", and a line of eco friendly hotels called "1".

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER VMA WRAP

Sorry it took so long but you can hear what we really have to think about the VMAs this way! I didn't want to BS you folks. I regret to say that this VMA had nothing on last years Las Vegas extrasexual suare of musical concoctions formed by the one and only Timbaland. In last years ceremony, Timbo was given the opportunity to organize the VMAs and he took full advantage. The hottest artists headlined the show and were designated as headliners by whether or not they had their own hotel suite and party. So for instance, Kanye West had his own "Good Life" party in his own suite with collaborators like T-Pain. Timbo and Justin Timberlake had their own room and party and had their friends perform throughout the evening. Lil Wayne had his own as well with Gym Class Heroes and Fall Out Boy. It seemed like a televised concert but instead of commercials they handed awards.

I'd like to start off by stating how it was an election year and the artists who, with all their garnered popularity, actually have a voice in the young-voter community but failed to use it. TI sported a "Respect the Vote" T-shirt in his performance with Rihanna but Young Jeezy rolled up in a car decked out with "Obama '08" and that was about it. As far as the overall quality of the show goes it was mediocre. I enjoyed hearing that artists such as Kid Cudi performed during commercials which is a testament to MTVs shift away from bubblegum pop culture and their respect for actual music. Here he is...

Katy Perry is a breath of fresh air in the female music industry. The Santa Barbara native's real name is "Katy Hudson" had to change her name because of Goldie Hawn's actress daughter "Kate Hudson". Her ability to stay true to herself is so sexy and her voice has a raunchy touch to it that I really like. I see her having a bright future and wish her the best. She's a showman or "show-woman" but doesn't have to look like she's masturbating on stage to get the crowd into it. Just a few provocative smiles and sexy riffs with her voice do the trick..(no lip-synch)

To be a bit more positive, I thought the DJ AM and Travis Barker all-night side performances were a very nice touch. It was like an open-mic of champions so that was cool. Kanye's new song "Love Lockdown" was a great way to close the show and some poeople say he shouldn't be singing but being that song is so close to heart I think Kanye took a great risk putting himself out there so more power to him. (The glow in the dark heart was kinda cheesy though)...

As far as award winners... BRTINEY SPEARS CLEANED UP!!!!!????? I think that was a pity move if I've ever seen one. However I do like that song "Break the Ice" which she got no recognition for. I guess she had a nice little come back year out of her drug-induced psycho stage. So, in a conclusion ThatGo I'ma say goodbye to Hollywood becasue VMAs need Timbo and Las Vegas. Let me know what you thought. (apologies for my super-cynical commentary)

JustBlaze put a new spin on "Dragostea din tei"by O-zone when he created the beat for T.I's new track entitled "Livin' Your Life" featuring Rihanna. As more and more songs from his forthcoming album "Paper Trail" are becoming available I'm getting excited. I respect the fact that you know you're going to get that southern swag with T.I. and his most poppish songs are given edge with his blunt lyrics and cold-blooded flow. You can see the traces of how his subject matter has been influenced by his recent trouble with the law but he isn't spewing it all over every track like many artists have before. He is coming with positive vibes and I can dig... so get yourself a big enough shovel and dig it like I is.

Big internet news today, Google has released their own browser called Chrome. How will the other browsers stand up? Google claims that the innovations they are adding into the new open source browser will help improve existing browsers for users and developers. Google explained the technology behind Chrome in a nicely made comic by Scott McCloud which you can read HERE. Here are a couple features of the technology used in Chrome...

Multi Process Architecture: The processes occurring in each tab of your browser are completely separate and occur simultaneously. This means that closing one tab completely erases the memory your CPU stored that information with... do you ever notice your computer slowing down after you browse in multiple tabs for a long time? Another benefit of the multi process architecture is that when one tab encounters a bug, it has no effect on the speed of any of your other tabs in the browser, so you can easily close it and continue browsing without hitches.

V8: Google had a team in Denmark build a virtual machine that could handle powerful javascript operations. Today web applications like Gmail require a lot from browsers and V8 is introducing the most efficient way of handling hefty apps.

88 Keys is an artist from Harlem, New York. He's done production work for hip hop's more so-called "conscious" rappers such as Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, and Mos Def. His track record dates back to 1988 and beyond. Recently Kanye West has taken a liking to him and has produced a bulk of his latest music. I checked out his new mixtape entitled "Adam's Case Files" and was impressed with his style. His album has very raw story telling and adresses issues you don't normally hear from other rappers but can relate to. I'm not sure how successful he will be commercially but the quality is very high in this "backpack" rapper's repertoire.

I love how he's trying to explore his creativity with this video and the one that recently was put up for sale "Good Morning" which is a cartoon starring his famous bear mascott.

Apple's full touch screen computer

A patent that Apple submitted to get filed back in April got leaked recently and it looks like Apple has serious plans for making a full touch screen computer. The patent is legit... several Apple execs are listed such as Industrial Design Chief Jonathan Ive. A key function will be the ability for multi-touch (pressing key combinations like ctrl-alt-delete).

Scrolling will be similar to the iPhone but the plans also show a very cool virtual scroll wheel, made possible with multi-touch.

Accessing smaller buttons will be possible with a nice tap temporary zoom function.

This technology is definitely exciting... imagine a computer half the size of the MacBook Air! Unfolding a laptop would no longer exist, all you would do is remove the screen protector. The one problem for me is the lack of a tactile keyboard. You won't be able to feel your way into no-look typing. I think if Steve Jobs decides not to allow people to use a normal keyboard with the device, it could seriously limit the audience that this product would target.

Where do I start. The Janelle Monáe story is not short or simple. I will try to summarize. Janelle Monáe is a young artist from Atlanta... genre: funk, hip-hop, pop, opera, soul, ?. She has an album called The Metropolis and plans on releasing it in 5 Suites at different times. The first suite, The Chase, has already been released independently and has been received with so much attention that Sean Diddy Combes immediately signed her to Bad Boy. I was getting turned off by MTV for a while, with all the reality shows and dating shows that are not music. Don't get me wrong, The Real World can be good fun, but I was looking for a music channel. Soon I found a solution with MTV Hits. They play music videos all day long with rare commercials. Another cool feature they have is that hour long segments of videos will be hosted and selected by particular musicians. These days MTV has been on their game, especially online! MTV's new big thing is Friday Night MTV or FNMTV, where every Friday there is a show that airs primetime, hosted by Pete Wentz, that showcases new musicians and premieres new music videos. One of the most exciting things about this show is its coordination with fans online. Check out FNMTV.COM and you will find an interactive community that allows fans to post videos and pictures, have conversations, and provide feedback straight to MTV. Every Friday on the show, MTV selects the most popular fanmade content and shows it off. MTV tries to encourage reactions to the new videos, like when they asked about Chromeo's reference to the Oedipus Complex in "Momma's Boy." MTV uses FLUX to power their community's which is a free online service that makes it easy for anyone to create a community and manage content. The last thing I'd like to mention is FNMTV's cool stage setup, which provides artist's the opportunity to be creative about how they interact with the audience. The Man of the Hour... The Joker

What is it about Batman's crazed nemesis that appeals to our psyche? Why does The Joker put our hairs on end and give us goose bumps but at the same time gain our admiration? To the people thatGo, the Joker is so appealing because he is the antithesis to the Batman. Batman is the stoic hero who pursues his plan to crush crime with discipline and stern disposition. The sociopathic Joker has no discipline or plan and takes lives on a whim (creatively might I add). In "Dark Knight" , The Joker shoots off civilians and innocent bystanders as if he is picking annoying flies off of his face on a muggy/humid day (You Aussies out there know what I'm talking about). A scene in "Dark Knight" that reveals a great part of the Joker's personality is when he meets with the crime bosses he'd conspired with in a warehouse and has a mountain of money about 30 feet high and wide. This is his half of an undisclosed dollar amount but it looked like it had to be over half of a billion dollars which he proceeds to drench in kerosene and light it on fire. The Joker wants to send a message to the people that he isn't motivated by money or power which that in itself puts fear in the hearts of the citizens of Gotham. A light of hope flickers in Gotham and it is in the form of the city's D.A., Harvey Dent. Both Batman and The Joker understand his significance to the civilization of Gotham and essentially battle each other to decide the fate of Harvey. This grotesque battle of anarchy vs civilization goes to the Joker... but who will win the war?

*Sorry if I turned this fun movie experience into an academic debate. I mean "Why so Serious?" Just go watch the movie and get whatever you want out of it but if anyone wants to give their spew on the Joker we'd love to hear... Check past blogs for first scene of "Dark Knight" in good quality and to get an idea of the Jokers personality.

Aaron "Shwayze" Smith.. The self-proclaimed only black kid from Malibu, California. This 22 year old alternative rap artist hails from the same 310 area code that is home to mega-stars like Mel Gibson, Jennifer Aniston, Britney Spears and Larry Ellison who is the founder/chief of Oracle. However, Shwayze was raised in a trailer park with his grandparents. No need for sympathy folks Shwayze's young life is a very glamorous version of Eminem's Detroit, Michigan "8 Mile" upbringing. As I mentioned on the July 4th post Shwayze's style is like multiplying Jack Johnson by the Gym Class Heroes. He depicts the plush lifestyle of Malibu adolescents and the Los Angeles party all day/night lifestyle. After attending school in SoCal I can say his beats via Cisco Adler (Mickey Avalon), mixed with his lyrics, portray the Southern California teen to twenties "my parents got money "lifestyle to a T (sorry to generalize). You can create a virtual avatar to represent yourself and go interact with other avatars. This is like AIM plus Facebook plus The Sims x10. There is great potential for innovation and new markets in Second Life, but it scares me to think about people living more in cyberspace and less in the real world. I love the internet because it provides an information exchange for me to learn things and connect with people QUICKLY, so I can get on with my life. But I can foresee people's real life social skills and relationships withering away in exchange for virtual socializing!

We all know that Japanese culture has been taking over half of the hip hop fashion scene. The other half of hip hop patrons seem to be striving for the ridiculously high end designer lines. On a trip to the city(San Francisco) I went to the store "Shoe Biz" for the sophisto-fashionable style that they're popular for. I came across the brand "Onitsuka Tiger." This brand was established in 1949 in Japan. The company set out to promote athletic lifestyles to ensure a healthy lifestyle for the youth of Japan. This is similar to the idea of the Japanese clothing line "Bathing Ape" whose target audience is the youth. The term "Bathing Ape" is a figurative term in Japan that refers to adolescents. The style of "Onitsuka Tiger" emphasizes sports, youth empowerment, and appreciation of art. Heres how you stay fly from your feet to the sky...

Okay so we've strayed away from our hyphy roots a bit but there are different varieties of hyphy ladies and gentleman. With MGMT you can go hippy hyphy! The two members attended school together at Wesleyan University and formed the group in Brooklyn, New York. Rolling Stone magazine deemed them as part of the "top 10 artists to watch" for 2008. Their sound has quickly spread across college campuses throughout the US. Their mix of keyboard with traditional rock sounds is the direction popular music is headed. Their musical talent coupled with their artistically abstract and, in my opinion, psychedelically inspired music videos will put MGMT atop the list of indie rock bands but their success in the mainstream is questionable.
